ATTENTION: SourceAbled is seeking candidates for an upcoming contract opportunity as a Foil Applier Operator with one of the world’s largest Pharmaceutical & Medical Technology companies the country in San Angelo, TX. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Starts, stops, operates, adjusts controls, etc., for equipment associated with the line operation.
  • Inspects work station for clutter and cleanliness. Perform line clearance as per required procedures.  Follows work schedules and observes operations to determine materials needed for production.
  • Verify accuracy of product description, components, and identifying documents by comparing product raw material codes against product identifying documents in the production book.
  • Secures all materials for production, i.e. tubs, trays, labels, etc., and stages on or at the machine. Ensures an adequate supply of materials is available to maintain required production levels. Performs proper product handling and paperwork necessary for batch processing.
  • Performs required set up procedures in accordance with process specifications. Performs machine set-up verifications, machine parameter checks, batch verifications, and product verification in accordance with required procedures and directives. Follows established procedures in making visual check of materials and packaging operation and recognizes and rejects substandard material. Determines quality trends and probable causes of quality problems.
  • Check equipment set-up requirements. Follows prescribed procedures in setting up equipment, including but not limited to- Applier, M100, R7000, Bar Sealer, and other related equipment. Checks for proper placement of all labels, as well as checking for all quality related defects. Make necessary adjustments to equipment to obtain acceptable quality, using small hand tools as required.
  • Adhere to prescribed procedures for running product and pouches through equipment.
  • Load product into Tyvek foil pouch ensuring product is oriented as per process specifications. Check product to ensure it is fully loaded into the pouch.  Make minor adjustments to equipment, perform periodic checks on machine operations, including but not limited to checking dies, gauges, instrumentation, etc. Replaces foil stock, tyvek, labels, etc., as necessary.
  • Seal pouches using the bar sealer. Inspect pouch for seal integrity. 
  • Place pouches in tubs with travel tags, ensuring product integrity and segregation by following prescribed procedures and inspecting same for visual quality requirements.
  • Load Sterilization magazines with ceco boxes or pouches as indicated by router. Visually inspect each magazine for foreign matter or other defects. Stage material for cobalt sterilization for pickup by material handler.
  • Load completed magazines into the magazine cart and/or on plastic pallets for transfer to Sterilization as per required procedures. Transports finished or raw materials as required using manual and/or electric pallet jack. Maintains material segregation in accordance with good manufacturing practices and process specifications.
  • Notifies Facilitator of material defects, mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Responsible for variances or rejections to the vault or rejection cage.  Verifies variancing and rejection information for accuracy.
  • Follows standard procedure for recording production information. Follows prescribed procedures for performing rework on rejected material, batch change procedures, and end of shift related activities.
  • Follows work schedules and or observes operations to determine materials needed for production.
  • Records and enters data into the automated tracking systems using electronic devices.
  • Held accountable for production efficiencies, strict compliance to process specifications, and company standards of behavior.
  • In accordance to prescribed procedures, set/up equipment such as the Applier, M100, Bar Sealer, R7000, and make all necessary adjustments as per required procedures.  Verify printed labels, printed ceco boxes, Tyvek patch location, label location and information, as well as product code, batch number, and all additional raw materials. Inspect for visual quality requirements as per required procedures.  Performs accurate record keeping duties. Places completed work into appropriate kanbans.  Follows established procedures in product handling and disposition, machine operation, batch recording, and updates on records, both hardcopy and electronic databases.
  • Notifies electrician or mechanic when repairs are needed.
  • Performs other work related activities as required. 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Does any other work of a related nature and performs other work related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. 
  • Performs preventive maintenance and minor adjustments.
  • Complies with all applicable quality management system, environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (for example, ISO 13485, ISO14001 & OSHAS18001).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate, G.E.D. or equivalent skills, experience or training.

Completion of Annual Operator Refresher Training consisting of all process specifications, safety, and Environmental training.

  • Support 24 hour, 7 day a week manufacturing operations, with the ability to work 12-hour shifts.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Associates is required to wear gowning as per established Quality Procedures.
