 Job Description

SourceAbled is seeking candidates for a 1st shift contract role as a Associate Scientist with our client Pfizer, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Seeking candidates in Andover MA or willing to  relocate.

  • Responsible for assisting in generation of stable CHO cell lines, cell banks, and expression assessments as well as the scale up of CHO pools in disposable 5-50L bioreactors.
  • Provide logistical support to the lab such as ordering supplies, managing instruments, and other general lab bench activities.
  • Schedule is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST. Client’s BioMedicine Design Biotherapeutic Expression and Purification group (BEP) is seeking a qualified candidate that will play an essential role in a high-energy protein expression research laboratory.
  • The Expression group is responsible for non-GMP protein drug lead generation, supporting the various Client research units and their pre-clinical therapeutic in-vitro and in-vivo needs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for helping to maintain lab operations through the daily upkeep of instruments and organization of consumables for the lab.
  • The candidate will also have the opportunity to aid scientists in the generation of stable CHO cell lines, cell banks, perform expression assessments along with scale-up in 5-100L disposable bioreactors.
  • The candidate will contribute to the group's wide deliverables and have the opportunity to work on several projects, presenting results and providing updates at group meetings.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain daily upkeep of lab instruments including checking reagents, performing calibrations, and reporting issues.
  • Daily checks through the lab to ensure consumables are stocked and prepared for use in experiments.
  • Upkeep of different storage libraries being able to track transfer of materials in and out of storage.
  • Aid in the generation of stable CHO cell lines, cell banks, expression assessments and scaleup in disposable 5-100L bioreactors
  • Depth filtration of conditioned media
  • Work with senior members of group to design and execute experiments.
  • Capture data in electronic notebook and routinely provide updates to project teams.
  • Provide updates at meetings on status of lab and data gathered through experiments.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including therapeutic discovery teams, Molecular biology, BEP Purification group, research units, and BTxPS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS with 0-2 years of experience in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline
  • Experience can be educational, internship, and previous work experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Sterile technique
  • Strong communication skills, written, oral and organizational skills.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Occasionally lifting such as consumable boxes and 20L (~50lbs)media bags and would need to be able to be independent.
